The Singapore-Israel Industrial
R&D Foundation
(SIIRD) promotes joint industrial R&D projects between
companies from Israel
and Singapore,
which would lead to
successful commercialization. SIIRD is a co-operation between the
Singapore
Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Office of the Chief Scientist
(OCS) in
Israel.
In its latest round of Board meeting in
July 2007 in Israel, SIIRD approved funding of US$3.7 millions to 14
companies to embark on new projects, which would be conducted in both
Israel and Singapore. A total research investment of US$8.4 millions
would be created.
One of the approved projects
was between Playware Studios
Asia Pte Ltd (Singapore)
and
AIseek Ltd (Israel),
which aimed to develop a Massive Multiplayer (MMP) game based on
hardware-accelerated Artificial Intelligence (AI). The proposed game
uses
hardware-accelerated AI technology to process its intensive AI content,
thus
enhancing players’ gaming experience and believability.
Another approved project
between Now Media Pte Ltd (Singapore)
and Traffix systems Ltd (Israel)
aimed to develop an IPTV Information Orchestration Solution (IIOS) that
monitors the users’ Quality of Experience (QoE) by collecting
and analyzing
statistical information on user interactive behaviour.
Other participating companies include:
CNA Group Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Menolinx Systems Ltd (Israel); Cytech
Technology Pte Ltd (Singapore) and HomeNet Com Ltd (Israel); Fotegrafik
Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Rubner Technology Consulting Ltd (Israel);
GlobalTrax Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Starcom GPS Systems Ltd (Israel);
mBit Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Media Layers Ltd (Israel).
To date, SIIRD has approved 70 R&D
projects of total research investment of US$73.4 millions. Besides
funding R&D projects, SIIRD also provides free assistance in
locating partners from Singapore and Israel interested in R&D
collaboration in a variety of technological fields.
